Christmas Porch
I realize it’s Thanksgiving week.
And I try my best to fully, completely celebrate Thanksgiving before moving on to Christmas. Thanksgiving really is my favorite holiday.
But Thanksgiving is so late this year. And the mums on my porch were dead, dead, dead. (I’m pretty mum challenged anyway. I can never seem to get mine to bloom very well.)
So while it’s still full-on fall and turkeys inside the house, the porch has made the transition to Christmas.
My mom handed down this sled to me (she’s downsizing…which means lots of cool things are coming my way) and I added a decorated star I bought at Homegoods last year.
I had planned to put some small bushes in the urns, but Home Depot had arrangements of live greens already made up, so I bought those instead.
I used the orbs and lantern I bought at Nell Hill’s this fall. I just changed out the pumpkins in the lantern for glittery pinecones and balls.
And I’ve had this Christmas wreath for ages, but I’m still happy to see it every year.
I hope my Thanksgiving guests aren’t too confused when they walk up to a porch decorated for Christmas and then into a house with no Christmas decorations in sight.
I hope your holiday preparations are going well. Whatever holiday you’re preparing for this week.

Love the sled and the star is a great addition to it. I think your entry is very welcoming and at this time of year everyone loves seeing a bit of Christmas flair. Those orbs look great with the greens! I’m breaking my own rule to not decorate before Thanksgiving but as you said its so late this year and I’m pretty sure most of us are thinking the same way. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
You have a happy Thanksgiving too, Liz.
I love your orbs Julie! And your entry looks very welcoming!! I think your guests will love it!!
Thank you, Diane. Happy Thanksgiving!
