CTL Weekly 12.15

Happy Friday, friend! How has your week gone? Are your Christmas preparations going well?

Mine are going….slowly. November was a busy month for us so I took a bit of a break after Thanksgiving and we were well into December without a Christmas decoration in sight before I knew it. I could feel myself getting stressed about the situation and I considered just not doing much this year but I really do love the house all warmed up for Christmas.

I decided instead to take a slow approach, doing just a bit at a time. Even still, as I write this, the living room tree is without ornaments and the front porch is bare, but the family room tree is done, the mantles are decorated, and we have those battery-operated lights in the windows which might be my favorite thing.

I’ve kind of liked taking the whole month to get the house ready instead of trying to do it in one fell swoop. I imagine I’ll be putting final touches on right up until Christmas. If you’re feeling anxious or behind too, consider this your permission to go slow and enjoy the process instead of racing to have everything done.

A RALPH LAUREN-INSPIRED CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR

Homeworthy has a video tour of Javier Burkle’s charming home all dressed up for Christmas. This small(ish) house in Dallas is full of inspiration.

ON MY RADAR

French Wine Glasses
I love using all-purpose wine glasses for family dinners, book club gatherings, holidays, and really just anytime. They work no matter what anyone is drinking which keeps things relaxed (and keeps me relaxed!). Crate and Barrel carries the prettiest French wine glasses at a great price. They remind me of the (much more expensive) La Rochere glasses that Ina favors.

12 Days of Christmas Puzzles
What a great idea these sets of 80-piece Christmas puzzles are! They come twelve to a set in two different Christmas themes and Michael Storrings did the illustrations for both so they’re charming.

English Food Gifts at Target
Target has several food gifts packaged in charming tins from the British brand M&S, including a hot chocolate light up housea gingerbread musical housea luxury tea light up house, and shortbread in a red double decker buspalace guard, and the light up house shown here. (This chocolate car is fun too!)
