Four Fun Things I’ve Bought for Our baby Granddaughter
Our first grandchild is arriving in December…and it’s a girl!
As you might imagine, I’ve had so much fun shopping for her and I thought I would share a few favorite things I’ve picked up in case you have a special child you’re shopping for too.
Zen Shorts by Jon J. Muth. I had not heard of this book, despite the fact that it came out in 2005 and is a Caldecott Honor Book (I’ve got to get up to speed on the children’s books published since my kids were born!). From the publisher: “Michael,” said Karl. “There’s a really big bear in the backyard.” This is how three children meet Stillwater, a giant panda who moves into the neighborhood and tells amazing tales. To Addy he tells a story about the value of material goods. To Michael he pushes the boundaries of good and bad. And to Karl he demonstrates what it means to hold on to frustration. I can’t wait to read this with her.

Toy kitchen mixer (on sale right now). I love the timelessness of wood toys and I was taken with this little mixer the first time I saw it, which was before we knew there was a grandbaby on the way. Once we knew, I circled back and bought it. Both her parents and I have Kitchenaid mixers so I love that she’ll have her own. The little dial on the top spins the beater and the top lifts up so you can remove the bowl. It’s from Target’s Hearth and Hand line with Magnolia, which has a lot of charming classic toys. A couple more favorites are the Christmas tree truck and toy train track set.

Mudpie pink velour outfit with bow. The headband makes the outfit, of course, but I also love the sweet little bows on the top.

Pink Christmas tree wrapping paper. We have had so much fun anticipating Christmas with a new baby in the family and I wanted a special wrapping paper just for her presents. There are also matching tags. This Etsy seller has so many pretty designs…I’m sure I’ll be ordering from her again.
P.S. A Beatrix Potter baby shower and four things I’m loving right now.
Great ideas! Our granddaughter was born on the 15th of September. She’s the first girl in our family (after two sons, a nephew, a grandson, and a great nephew), so I’m loving all of the pinks and bows. It will be fun to see how she interacts with her male cousins as they grow!
The gift ideas are precious! We have three grandsons who are great fun, but alas, no darling pink! You might also check out Emily Lex’s book, Twirl! It looks adorable.
I definitely will, Lori. Thanks for the recommendation!
That will be so fun! I predict she’ll be the ringleader.
