Have a Charming Weekend

San Francisco-Black-Doorway

I’m pretty addicted to charm.

My favorite vacation memories are of charming places: Savannah, GeorgetownSan Francisco.

Savannah Bridge

My list of places I want to visit is full of charm too: Martha’s Vineyard, Maine, Paris.

But I don’t want charm to be just for vacations, so I’ve been looking for it in my everyday life too, and – surprise! – I’ve been finding it.

I posted the photo above on my Instagram this week with this caption: I love this house in my neighborhood. I drive by it every chance I get. It has charm for days.

Please overlook the fact that I’m a house stalker, but isn’t it lovely? What that picture doesn’t show is that the lights on either side of the front door and garage are gas lamps. Such a charming detail.

So I’d love to know two things: Are you a house stalker too? (You can tell me, we’re all friends here.) And where are you finding charm these days?

And here are two more charming links I bookmarked to share with you:

  • This Tumblr account. I don’t really understand Tumblr, but you don’t have to to get lost in these lovely images.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  1. I’ve been a house stalker since I was a kid! I grew up in Brooklyn NY and I loved walking around all the brownstones and peeking in the windows.
I’ve visited many parts of New England and I just love all the different house styles there. I find charm in houses with old details but also in newer houses with gardens and flower boxes and where you can tell the owners just love their home.

    1. I love this Lisa: where you can tell the owners just love their home. And Brooklyn would be a fabulous place to house stalk!

  2. My name is Jillian and I’m a house stalker. So nice to be in good company!

Those gas lamps are beyond charming. What a nice touch!

    1. Aren’t they, Jillian? When they’re lit they add so, so much.

  3. I’m so glad to find out I’m not the only one who is a house stalker! My husband and sons just don’t get it.

    1. You are not alone, Karen. I think we’re gathering enough house stalkers here to start our own support group.

  4. Now I have a name for one of my favorite activities – house stalker. In fact, I’ve even made house stalkers of my kids. We love to drive around looking at all the beautiful houses and landscaping here on Cape Cod where we live. It gives us great ideas for our own house and yard.

    1. You live on Cape Cod, Ellie? That must be house stalking heaven. And good for you for training the next generation! Someone has to…

  5. Me, me, me……I am an incorrigible house stalker, and my sweet hubby is the facilitator.
We never drive straight home if we are out in the evening :^)
When we travel, that is our evening recreation…after the antique and junque stores close!
Stalk on ladies….it’s nice to be in such good company!!
    Blessings,
    J

    1. Stalk on ladies…love it, Jaybird.
