Around the House

House & Home October 4, 2018

I think Fall is finally here to stay in KC. A few summer-like days continue to pop up here and there, but the nights are cool and the leaves are changing so we’ve definitely turned the corner. I no longer “decorate” the house for the seasons like I used to, but I do like slowly…

Around the House

House & Home August 10, 2017

If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you know that I love a good secondhand find. I’ve done my fair share of shopping at estate sales and on Craigslist, but recently I tried shopping an online auction and came away with this little chest for my living room. It was a local…

Entryway Bench

Furniture· House & Home September 21, 2016

It’s been a while since I’ve scored something good on Craigslist so I was thrilled to run across this little black bench with a rush seat. I showed a little pic on Instagram, but I finally got around to pulling out my camera to take a few more photos. The seat pops out easily for…

Checking In and Catching Up

House & Home May 20, 2016

Hi friends. Sorry to have neglected this place for so long. Spring comes with so many distractions, doesn’t it? So this post will have no real theme, and a lot of less than ideal iphone pictures, but I wanted to check in and let you know what I’ve been up to. Earlier this month I traveled to Florida…

Vintage Jars and Spring Blooms

House & Home· Seasons and Holidays· Secondhand Finds March 31, 2016

A few years back I picked up some vintage dairy jars at an estate sale. Since that time I have pulled those jars out a number of times to hold flowers or silverware, and I always enjoy them. So when I ran across this small, vintage honey jar at an antique mall recently I happily added it to the…

London Souvenirs

London March 22, 2016

Lindsey was in charge of our London itinerary, and she told me that we had to go to Fortnum and Mason. That I would love it. She was right! Fortnum and Mason is a specialty foods and department store with a history that goes back 300 years. Originally the store was a grocery store; today it includes…

Spring Colors and Weekend Links

Favorite Things· House & Home· Links I Love· Seasons and Holidays March 18, 2016

I’ve been craving color lately, so I added a little to the family room to welcome spring. Blue and white always works, so I added this Delft lidded jar, which was an estate sale find, to the mantel in the family room. And when the forsythia started blooming, I clipped some branches to add next…

Artwork Finds

Artwork· House & Home· Secondhand Finds February 10, 2016

Last month I picked up a framed, vintage English poster at an estate sale. Artwork like this is why I continue to go to estate sales and walk the aisles of antique malls. You never know when you’re going to happen on something unique for your home. This piece appealed to me because I’m a sucker…

Vintage Soup Spoons and Two Favorite Soup Recipes

Food & Celebrations· House & Home· Recipes· Secondhand Finds January 14, 2016

Several years ago I pinned a picture of some vintage soup spoons, the kind with round bowls (I think these are sometimes called gumbo spoons), on Pinterest. I loved the round shape of them…a shape you don’t see much of anymore. I made a mental note to look for some of these spoons in my antique booth…

Around the House and Some Links I’m Loving

House & Home· Links I Love November 13, 2015

In September my dad was in KC for some business and a golf tournament and my mom sent with him some fabric she had that she knew I liked. I was ready to change out my kitchen cafe curtains, so I took the fabric back to Florida with me when we visited earlier this month and…
