We had a big family conversation about Christmas gift shopping recently because we all like to do it differently. Some members of our family like to do their own shopping and others want very detailed idea lists with links. Can you relate?

It’s always hard for me to come up with a wish list but I do my best. Here’s what I sent Tom and my mom to help them with their shopping this year.

Cashmere Shirttail Sweater. This sweater in a Macy’s brand is such a great price. I asked for this sweater in black but if I like it as much as I hope to I plan to get it in the pretty blue color too. Comes in regular and plus sizes.

Queen Elizabeth Coin Bracelet. I love coin jewelry and I have another Susan Shaw bracelet that I love, so when I saw they now had a Queen Elizabeth bracelet I quickly added it to my list.

Burl Wood Box. Such a pretty box and can be used almost anywhere.

Paul Newman Memoir. I was confused by the new memoir by Paul Newman since I knew he had been gone a while. Turns out this is a project he did with his best friend from 1986-1991 and it sounds so interesting. I’ve heard good reviews too.

Patent Rain Boots. A month or so ago I had to be out and about when it was pouring down rain and I realized I didn’t have any rain boots. Snow boots, yes, but none strictly for rain. I searched and found these cute but affordable boots. I asked for black but the red ones would be so fun too.

Ina Garten Cook Like a Pro and Barefoot Contessa at Home. I love Ina and her cookbooks and these are the only two I don’t have.

Pottery Barn Cotton and Linen Napkins. These Pottery Barn check napkins come in seven color combos. I asked for navy but I really love the cinnamon ones too.

Sur La Table Cocktail Pitcher. I love the tall, slim shape of this pitcher. I want to do some batch cocktails in it but will probably use it for lots of other things.

I’d love to know what’s on your list!

P.S. Holiday Gift Guide and a Christmas table setting.

  1. Julie, these ALL look good! I bought some Hunter rain boots that are close to impossible to get off. The patent ones here look tempting! I know you’ll be happy to complete your collection of Ina’s 13 books. I just did!

    1. Jillian, such a bummer about your Hunter boots. Hoping these won’t be too difficult. And congrats on completing your Ina collection!

  2. Thank you for some lovely ideas. Several years ago I was on a cleaning streak and I took several cookbooks to goodwill (including Ina’s). I do regret that move.
Your post was timely as my husband and I just listened to a podcast on Hidden Brain called – The Secret to Gift Giving. We enjoyed it because we have been struggling with how to manage our gift giving to each other, much like you described in your post. Happy Holidays!

    1. That podcast sounds like one I need to listen to, Deb. And I know some lucky Goodwill shopper was happy to run across the cookbooks. Happy Holidays to you too!
